This is the second post in the series of installing Dynamics AX2012 Components. This post will talk about installing Dynamics AX 2012 Application Object Server (AOS).
We will jump start by double-clicking the Setup.exe file from the installation root folder and then selecting Application Object Server (AOS) from the component list. Since we have already validated the prerequisites for all the components in our previous post and have installed the missing parts, we will not separately run system validation this time.
Wizard will run checking required prerequisites for the selected component(s).
Select database server name from the dropdown, that can be a local server or remote server name and then select the main database name and baseline database name and Click Next.
Specify instance name for your AOS and leave the default ports as is if there is no AOS instance installed previously on that machine.
Specify a Network or Domain user account to run AOS service.
And you are done with installing the second component from the list.
After completing the installation of AOS instance you must wait for the Dynamics AX Object Server Windows service to start. Be patient as the AOS service can take several minutes to start the first time after it is installed.
AOS Windows service can take longer than 30 seconds (windows default) to start and you may get a error message saying that the service did not respond to start. Wait for some time and refresh the Windows services and see if the AOS service start successfully, if not, try starting AOS service again. If the service repeteadly does not start, you may have to configure the registery to give windows services more time to start before the error message is displayed.
